Alfonso Martinez, is the Zapotec chef for Ponchos Tlayudas and is originally from the valley of Oaxaca. He developed an affinity for food and the kitchen by watching his mother Feliciana cook in their smokey kitchens of comal de leña.

Live fire cooking Oaxacan style food!

Good for ambiance. Meat is ok; some parts hard to chew. Big portions but it’s pricey. $30 and up for each meal. 

Unfortunately for dinner the lighting is super dim and the music is kind of loud. Good for intimate dinner not large groups. You need to order via phone.
