Nuo just opened in Monterey Park, taking over the old Dot & Dough spot. Super unique for LA — a shop dedicated to mochi desserts like this, though it’s very popular in China and Taiwan. Think soft, ball-sized mochi with a variety of fillings, both sweet and savory, plus seasonal options. The sesame and purple rice were my favorites — not too sweet, super satisfying. Mochi is incredibly soft and stretchy. Everything’s made to order so it’s fresh, but expect a long wait (30 min minimum.

Tbh I don’t think it was worth it for the cost. Each mochi’s about $6 and we waited in line for 30 mins then another 45 to get the mochi. It’s really loaded up inside but I would say it’s pretty okay, and not that sweet. The sesame powder was really overpowering and I got the cream cheese one thinking it would be sweet, but they just used regular cream cheese. Next time I would probably get a regular fruit flavor

line and wait can be long because of only 2 kiosks. mochi is pretty fresh especially the durian one. the strawberry mochi was sour but mochi itself is good
