Ordered online and picked up their sake (salmon) Yoshi sushi. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I saw online that oshi sushi is typically a pressed mold sushi with layers of sushi rice and salmon. Often comes with toppings like sauces, jalapeños, or peppers. If it’s mentioned that it’s aburi-style, then the salmon would be flame-seared. I was a little disappointed - it came with pressed rice and salmon on top, with some kind of herb/lettuce in between the rice and salmon. I would not rec

Came here solo to celebrate after exams! Ordered the Uni Ikura Unagi Meshi rice donburi & Moriawase (6 Sashimi varieties).

Was pleasantly surprised in the high quality and freshness of the fish, especially the mackerel which is oftentimes too pungent. Among the salmon, white tuna, yellowtail, red snapper, and halibut, my favorites were the salmon and red snapper (whichever one that has the refreshing citrus flavor!) Meanwhile, the donburi was rich in umami!

Tanto Izakaya has been around in Sunnyvale for almost 20 years and continues to draw in crowds. There are always lines, so it’s better to make a reservation. This one of the rare Japanese restaurants with private dining room sections and traditional style tatami seating. Tanto is a local favorite and gem in Sunnyvale.

Found a chirashi bowl like in Hokkaido 🔥 

The vibrant color of the bara chirashi set meal is perfect for autumn. The team at Tanto nailed it. I will go back to try more of the menu! 

The $33 is worth the price imo. Times have changed.. nothing of great quality comes cheap, so this is worthy the price. The portion was huge along with the sides of burdock root, lotus, miso soup and potato salad. I was stuffed afterwards and only had room for a light dinner.
