In 1986 Adrienne and Peter Skrumbis decided to venture into a small business along with their future son in law, John Philipopoulos. Peter taught high school history and his wife, Adrienne was teaching elementary school at the time. John was working long hours in another restaurant and attending college. A family friend had mentioned that the Sandwich Saloon in San Pedro was for sale and so began a union of quality food, family, and a growing business. Later that year, Peter retired from teaching and joined his partners in reinventing home-style food with the help of Adrienne's superb culinary skills and innovative recipes. In June of 1987 John married their daughter, Nikki and the business along with the family continued to grow.
