The roots of Tokio Sake trace back to the early 1960's when Sun K. opened her first Japanese restaurant in Myeong-dong, known as the Apple of South Korea. Sun would frequent the fish markets at the break of dawn to purchase the freshest ingredients to present to her customers. Her quality dishes soon garnered a positive response from residents and tourists alike and a franchise in Korea was born. With the success of Sun's cuisine in Korea, June (Sun's sister) expanded the business by opening a location in the heart of Tokyo, Japan. June perfected her artistry there, blending traditional methods of preparing sushi with contemporary ones with the sole goal of presenting dishes of only the highest quality and taste. Tokio Sake reached the States in 2008 when Sun's daughter opened its first location in Deer Park, Illinois. She had chosen to spell Tokyo as "Tokio," emphasizing her intent to open a fusion cuisi
