In 2001 an eccentric businessman tried to an upscale Italian restaurant and then a seedy gentleman's club complete with mirrored walls, dance poles, a light-up board, and playboy bunnies, still visible above the bar today. Then a former Soviet businessman bought the bar and allowed it to fall into disrepair. The carpet was dingy, the chairs were described as a special kind of ick. Anyone who sat down in the once-white chairs could recall the feeling of stickiness that did not wash off for days. Old tube TVs adorned the walls, and lovely cigarette-smoke stained-once white vertical blinds hung in the windows. In 2012 a few local SFV guys bought The Star Bar. They upgraded the chairs, floors, got new High Def TVs, and brought in cool drinks like Fi
