Serving up Argentine food culture in San Diego. Handmade, baked empanadas for a gourmet experience on the go. Established in 2016. Empanada Kitchen was born from the idea to bring a piece of the Argentine culinary culture to San Diego. Our empanadas are handmade and happily baked (never, ever fried) with special care to provide a tasty, high-quality experience. We also make our own chimichurri sauce fresh every day following the most traditional-gaucho approved homemade recipe: chopped parsley, oregano, garlic and chili flakes in a base of red wine vinegar, olive oil and water and salt (No, it is not spicy). You want to know more? An empanada is typically a savory pastry stuffed with different types of fillings. The name comes from the Spanish verb empanar, meaning "to wrap in bread" (we copied and pasted this from Wikipedia so we know is true). It is not clear where the empanada originated from but they became popular throughout South America, particularly in Argentina.
