The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a 133-acre wildlife and conservation destination in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Founded in 1966, the zoo is owned by the city of Los Angeles and combines animal habitats with beautiful botanical gardens across its sprawling grounds. Visitors rave about the elephant and meerkat exhibits, the butterfly pavilion add-on experience, and the zoo's strong focus on wildlife rehabilitation and education. Beyond regular hours, the zoo hosts a popular after-dark light show series, wine tasting nights, and seasonal events like LA Zoo Lights that draw guests back year after year. The casual, immersive atmosphere suits families, groups, solo outings, and date nights alike.
The Los Angeles Zoo is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including weekends. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day and December 25. Keep in mind that animals begin heading in for the night at 4 p.m., and last entry is at 3:45 p.m.
