It had been too long since I have had Ethiopian food, so being introduced to Mela Bistro in Oakland was so good! From the moment I tore into their fresh injera, (a teff-based flatbread) I knew I was in for a treat. It’s tangy, spongy and is the best way to sop up your dinner. Each dish was, saucy, perfectly spiced with just the right kick of heat, paired with vibrant, fresh veggie sides that bring balance and a pop of color to every bite. The honey wine, like a mead, is their own creation.
