This was an amazing experience and perhaps one of the best sushi omakases I have ever had. The fish was exceptionally fresh and tasty, and I appreciated the timing as to when the sushi was prepared in real time and came out subtlety as you finished each piece without feeling rushed. Will definitely be back!

Delicious authentic Japanese food and great service

Osaka in Pasadena is one of those low-key Japanese spots that’s been around forever for a reason. No frills, no trendy hype—just comforting, classic Japanese food done right. The menu has all the staples you’d expect, portions are generous, and it’s a solid place when you want something familiar and satisfying. Easy, reliable, and the kind of neighborhood spot you end up coming back to without really thinking about it.

Service was excellent, drinks were fine (not remarkable) but the food was definitely lacking for the price point. We wanted to like this place more.

Scored one of the 8 counter shabu seats for a wonderful meal with the girls. I opted for the tonkotsu broth and ribeye, which was hand sliced in front of us. Chef was attentive at refilling our broth and offering additional sides as needed. Also tried the tempura shishito peppers which were crunchy with good heat. Sushi is always a hit here and the golden eye snapper was fresh, as was the live scallop and uni. Reservation highly recommended as it’s busy and a well-loved spot.

Reasonably priced and unreasonably delicious! Excellent service also.

The bentos are the best. Desserts are unique and delicious.
