Amuri - San Diego

just checked out a brand-new Sicilian spot in North SD called @amurisd and it has my heart! The name of their restaurant translates to "love" in Sicilian and that's the basis of the whole dining experience. They put so much love into each dish and every detail of their new family owned restaurant. We tried • mango martini • strawberry mojito • Amari V-a touch of Grilled pear, ricotta cheese, walnuts, honey. $19 •Beef meatballs 100% beef, tomato sauce, mozzarella. $16 • Carbonara Rigatoni, guanci

Stopped in for lunch and tried the frito mixto which included calamari, shrimp and zucchini as well as the Amuri pinsa which his a Roman style pizza. The food tasted great and the service was excellent as well.

Very friendly staff and quick service. The burrata, similar to an arancini appetizer, was tasty. It's best enjoyed hot, I took it to go and the breaded "dough" had become a bit chewy. The cheese was nice and soft and flavorful. The marinara sauce with basil was also quite tasty. I got a Dr pepper to go, I should have specified no ice, it came in a little cup filled predominantly with ice so they're wasn't much Dr pepper in it. Nice atmosphere and pretty packed at dinner time on a Saturday!

Food wasn’t good at all. The middle of meat balls were mushy and at room temperature, not even warm. The tomato sauce tasted like from the cans. Calamari was so thin and dry as in they’ve been sitting in the freezer for so long. The prices were high too. Highly NOT RECOMMENDED this place.

Authentic Italian food! Everything is made from scratch, including the pasta! Must try the fettuccine made in the cheese wheel, pappardelle ragu and tiramisu made table side.
