amazing experience!!

My first Michelin star restaurant was wonderful. Everything in the omakase course was delicious. Pieces of note were the amberjack (very creamy), Aji mackerel, Japanese barracuda (smokey and peppery), king mackerel (smooth taste, incredibly tender), gizzard shad, uni and ikura. All tuna was amazing especially the soy marinated one. Overall I had a wonderful experience in this lively restaurant

Soichi 2121 Adams Ave. San Diego, CA 92116 $135 omakase (without sake pairing): Raw oyster, firefly squid, herring roe, japanese uba tofu, aji mackerel, amberjack, mexican bluefin chutoro (medium fatty) tuna, mexican bluefin akami (lean) tuna, scallop, steamed egg custard, chilean sea bass, skipjack tuna, barracuda, japanese sardine, golden eye red snapper, triggerfish, uni, sea perch, light soup, tamago (egg), white sesame or green tea ice cream

honestly a little freaky to me, but this is not meant to be eaten this way, this was just for presentation and to demonstrate freshness! they ended up frying it to be eaten (or cooked however you want). overall the food here was quite good, but definitely pricy. but what can you expect from a Michelin star restaurant! #michelinstar #shrimp
