Kopitiam is a fast-casual Nyonya restaurant on the Lower East Side of New York City, located at 151 E Broadway. The name means "coffee shop" in Hokkien, and the space lives up to that spirit as a daily gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. Chef and owner Kyo Pang, a third-generation Nyonya and James Beard Semifinalist, carries forward her family's recipes while preserving the tradition of cooking dishes the way her ancestors did. Nyonya cuisine blends Chinese and Malay flavors with influences from Portuguese, Dutch, and British culinary traditions. No additives or artificial coloring are used, with hues sourced fresh from Malaysia or nearby markets. Guests love the char kway teow, kaya toast, and signature nasi lemak, with a casual atmosphere that works well for groups.
