UMIAI

UMIAI (pronounced “OOO-ME-I”) translates to “Ocean Love” in Japanese and it did not disappoint! Their sushi is hand rolled, made to order, and super fresh. A bit on the pricey side but commensurate with the quality. Highly recommend the miso yuzu seared salmon, Hokkaido scallop caviar, and the tuna hand roll! Their crudo plates are beautifully plated and the ones with truffle oil were absolutely *chef’s kiss* 🍣 🥢

It's a great place for hand rolls. If GF make sure you tell them because there is gluten in their rice, vinegar and sauces. Food is really good though!

Got the 6 handroll set and really enjoyed it. Great ratio of fish to rice. Service was also phenomenal - handrolls came quickly when you finished one, but they also checked in and refilled water quickly. Parking structure available for free parking the first hour and $1 for every 20 min after!

Located at NoHo West, Umiai is bar-only seating, offering hand rolls with deliciously crispy seaweed. Starting at 3 rolls for $22, it’s a bargain. We especially enjoyed the uni bites and scallop carpaccio. The service was great. Would definitely return.
